Three Centuries of History
The Palace occupies the north-east corner of Lichfield's Cathedral Close — a site with recorded history stretching back to the 14th century, when a Bishop's Palace was built here for Bishop Langton.
The current building dates to 1687, constructed following the destruction of its predecessor during the English Civil War. For nearly three centuries it served as the official residence of the Bishop of Lichfield, before passing to Lichfield Cathedral School in 1954.
A Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Monument in its own right, The Palace carries history in every stone — and now offers that heritage as a backdrop for your most memorable occasions.
